Introduction - What is Shamanism

First known 10,000 yrs ago, Tuva, Russia. Yet all cultures have their own shamanic traditions and the roots may go back much farther; as much as 100 000 years ago. All have the connection to mother earth, the universe and nature in common. Native American, Andean/Peru, Africa, Australian Aborigines etc. One of the meanings of the word Shaman is “one who knows”.

We will explore some of the core concepts of Shamanism and dive deep into our own healing throughout the course of this workshop.

From the shamanic perspective, we are intentionally sending our consciousness into the spirit world. We do this for a variety of reasons – to connect, retrieve information, heal, restore and energize ourselves. We may have a clear doorway and path that we follow or we may simply find ourselves in the spirit world.

Shamanism is about reconnecting with nature, understanding that we are earth and star based, the real and living knowledge which is then used to bring balance to all aspects of our lives. In Shamanism we learn how to "walk between the worlds" and gaining knowledge from behind the veils.
